1How Cash on Delivery Works
Cash on delivery involves three parties: the seller, the courier and you. Here is how the money and the parcel move:
Label and Amount
The seller books the parcel and prints a label showing the amount to pay.
On the Way
The parcel travels through the courier’s network, marked as cash on delivery.
Paying at the Door
The rider collects the cash, checks the amount and hands over the parcel.
Paying the Seller
The courier passes the money on to the seller, minus any agreed fees.
2Opening the Parcel Before You Pay
Many buyers want to check the item before paying. Here is why riders often say no:
Why Riders Ask You to Pay First
The rider is not the seller and cannot judge size, quality or colour, or give refunds. If a parcel is opened and then refused, it is hard to prove what was inside. That is why many couriers ask for payment first.
If something is wrong: If the item is wrong or damaged, film yourself opening it, keep the flyer with the tracking label, and contact the shop straight away.
3How Sellers Get Paid
Sellers wait for COD money until the courier passes it on. Each courier has its own schedule, so ask before you sign up:

4Failed COD Deliveries and Returns
If the buyer refuses the parcel or cannot be reached, the parcel may go back to the seller:
- Missed delivery: The rider marks the delivery as not done and the courier may try again.
- Follow-up: The courier or the shop may call the buyer to arrange delivery.
- Return: If delivery still fails, the parcel is returned to the seller (RTS). The seller may pay a fee for the return, so ask your courier about this.
Common Questions About Cash on Delivery
Why won’t the rider let me open the parcel before I pay?
The rider works for the courier, not the shop, and cannot settle problems with the product. Many couriers ask you to pay before opening, but rules differ. Ask the shop about its policy before you order, and contact the shop if something is wrong.
How quickly do couriers pay sellers for COD orders?
It depends on the courier and the seller’s agreement. PostEx, for example, offers early payment to some sellers. Ask your courier how and when it pays.
Can I pay the rider by EasyPaisa, JazzCash or card?
Some couriers may offer digital payment at the door, but we could not confirm which ones. Ask the shop or courier before delivery. Never send money to a rider’s personal account.
What happens if I am out or cannot pay when the rider comes?
